Photo Spot Spot B - Walkway by river

Disembark the DLR railway at the Royal Albert station and head towards the river, by the big office building. Here you can get a view of the apron and can easily see departures and arrivals from both runway ends. Photos are possible to take from this location. There are benches along the pathway.

Photo Spot Spot C - Tereza Joanne Car park

When coming from the south, take the right just after the first bridge when coming from the south into the industrial area, then the first left. Follow the windy road under the main road and through the gates, then park in the large carpark on the left. Do not turn right and park on the dockside- it is private land and you will get clamped and they check regularly!

You will get close to 28 arrivals here, and departures turn onto the runway here so you have good side-on views. A long lens is not needed, a standard zoom will do. If you walk to the end of the dock it's close enough for a good blast of jet wash!

The police regularly come down and do a quick check, but I've never been bothered or moved on and quite often they'll hang out and watch the planes with you for a bit.

Hi guys

Seems to be a bit of a theme trying to register on this site. I am photographer and new to plane spotting and looking to do a project on plane spotter and really keen to give it a go and see what it's all about. I live I'm east London so London city is in easy reach. If there's any one willing or around to give me an introduction that would be great.

You can email at
Jackboniface@me.com

Look forward to hearing from you
Cheers
Jack

Hi
Like Tony Sewell above, I'm also finding it impossible to register with your fantastic site. I've tried three different email address to no avail. All I see when I hit the 'Register' button is something like - 'There was a problem sending your activation e-mail. Please check your email address is correct and try again."
I've also tried from two different computers with the same result.
Unfortunately there are no contact telephone numbers or postal addresses where we can contact the moderator.
Please can you help
Best regards
Ray Jennings

Thanks for posting the information.

As a result I visited location B yesterday for my first ever visit. Great location. Noted close on 40 aircraft between about 16.30 and 18.30 and had a nice chat with a knowledgeable local spotter too.

Hi guys,

I just wondered if anyone had spotted a Swiss-registered private aircraft landing and London City Airport on a regular basis (usually early in the morning) and departing (in the early-mid evening I guess)

I have a celebrity hunch that I'm trying to stand up.

Many thanks,

Ed

Hi im set to go to LCY this Wednesday 29th August 2012. Will my camera is a Kodak C182 14 Megapixel. Will my camera be ok to take good enough pictures and video recordings from spot B ?

Spot B is fantastic, very quiet, security patrols, and some benches facing where the aircraft line up. Little cafe/shop at the DLR station (Prince Albert) selling hot and cold drinks and snacks. Only downside is there is no toilet anywhere! Just remember to take your sunblock as you are facing the sun and the reflection of the water quickens up the sun burn. Between 7am and 1045am you should see the whole BA Cityflyer fleet, as well of a mix from Cityjet, Swiss, Skyworks, Luxair, Lufthansa, Alitalia, BA 318's, and ex VLM's (which are now Cityjet) as well as some Private jets. Weekdays are the busiest, weekends very quiet. Enjoy
