| The KC-97 was introduced in 1950 and a total of 816 were built. The slow KC-97s were replaced by KC-135s after 1956. The KC-97L variant had 2 GE J47 turbojets fitted which made them more compatible with high performance jet aircraft. Serving with the ANG and AFRes units, most had been retired by 1973. This aircraft was operated by the Tennessee ANG. | ||
