| Notes: | The Fighter Collections LF MkV turning over Duxford, showing this variants clipped wings. This wartime modification was intended to enhance low-level performance, particularly roll-rate, at the loss of performance at higher altitude. As the Mk Vs that were converted were already worn out combat veterans, they were known amongst their pilots as 'clipped, clapped and cropped' - espically when put up against the new Fw-190 over Northern France in late 1941. |
