| Notes: | The new 41(R) Squadron special scheme Tornado rolling on runway 25 at RAF Coningsby on one of it's first flights since the markings were applied the previous week. The markings tie in with the current 2012 London Olympics, a event that 41 Sqn have a special connection with. When the squadron was a frontline Spitfire unit in the early stages of WWII, their OC, Sqn Ldr (retired as Grp Capt) Don Finlay, was a former medal winning Olympic hurdler, with two medals to his credit. All these elements are shown on the tail, and the aircraft code 'EB-Z' is the same as the Spitfire assigned to the former CO. |
