Aviation Nostalgia Forum | doubt you'd see this nowadays!
Nice one Roy.
Those crazy South Americans! Have always known how to enjoy themselves.
Cheers Roy.
Kinda blows my experiences of the Biman DC10 at the mound out of the water doesn't it...

Quoting hitchings29, from a previous postGod - Thats Amazing - I've been lucky enough to fly on a DC-10 - There beautiful planes - Why are they going so scarce (all the tri-jets infact)?
Was lucky enough to fly on a MyTravel one (BYDA if I remember correctly).
Engines are getting more and more powerful and more fuel efficient every year so there isn't really a need for TriJets anymore. The 777 probably produces a similar amount of thrust as an MD11 so having an extra engine just increases the fuel burn.
Sam
Never flew on a DC-10 more's the pity, managed an MD-11 though.
Agree you wouldn't get anything like that nowadays, remember Woodford Airshow in 1978, well before the flying display got under way the Red Arrows did a flypast in their Gnat's, was a really miserable day and I'm sure they got both the altitude wrong as well as the line of flight as it seemed to be about as high as that DC-10 in the vid and directly overhead, plus they had the smoke on which for about 30 seconds after they passed it seemed as if we were in the middle of a Hammer Horror set as it was a real white pea-souper.
Also remember from that time the Dutch AF Friendship used to be the star turn at airshows all over Europe with it's low pass - photo's made many a magazine, that's one other thing I regret not actually seeing in the flesh.
Yes same - i went on a mytravel DC-10 to cyprus i beileve - but it was around 5 Years Ago!
That has to be one of the coolest ways to have flown a 10! They were special!!
