Bristol all over again! At least that got repaired, saw it at MAN the other day and you can see the patch where the paint doesn't quite match

Thanks, WH. Flight was from Beijing to Narita.

Jeeeeez, scary stuff.

Testiment to the build quality of airliners in this day and age. That nose gear took quite a pounding - if it had failed, then the outcome of the incident almost certainly would have been catastrophic.

Depends on what's under the skin, as the 767 can take a right old bashing before it gets written off. I would be more concerned at the nosegear mounting points and whether they have shifted. The strut will doubtless just get replaced as it's gone way outside limits.

There is quite a bit of ability to flex built in to the 767 and reskinning whilst not trivial isn't a showstopper. As long as the frames and stringers inside aren't too badly damaged it should be a viable repair. It's only 9 years old apparently. I've seen worse (Emirates A345) get repaired after all.

This one perhaps;

The documents show pictures of the full skin abrasion, now those passengers can count themselves lucky.

That EK A340 is ridiculously bad, although I would love to have experienced it. On a different note my dad said departing from FNC in about 2000 (while extension was being built) their T/O run was much longer than all of the other aircraft he'd watched from the erminal and he said he felt a bump as the aircraft rotated (possible tailstrike?)

This reminds me of some videos posted on here before, the Etihad A330 landing in NRT, the KE 777 landing in Narita and the KE 777 taking off from NRT with a tailstrike. Also the FDX MD11.

I don't know if there is any truth in the legend, but the EK A345 allegedly got the tail section of the crashed Etihad A346 as the pressure bulkhead and structure was too badly damaged to save. It definitely needed a complete new tail section and not just the skin.

Must have been a dog of a flight to get it back to Toulouse from Australia unpressurised at 10,000 feet maximum. The fuel burn would have been horrendous.
