Is it true they are starting Athens as a scheduled service, i heard it ages ago, but its just popped into my head now... anyone know anything of this?

Yes its true, it was ment to start tomorrow using a B747 but has now been cancelled but you can book flights on there website for June 13th

Yeah, flights BHX-ATH and ATH-JED, they want to do an Air Sylhet type operation where they have a base in mid-Europe ideal for connections UK-Asia. Great way to get on a classic 747 for a fairly low fare though! happy

Must pop down to BHX to film her if and when it starts up. Will be interesting to see how they get on given their past has been all charters and aircraft for hire.

well its not long untill the 747 comes i really want to make the trip to see this big bird

warwick isnt long from bhx will have to arange a viewing day

Hellenic Imperial Airways are now planning to
commence their twice weekly B747 service to Athens
on Saturday 25th July 2009

announced on airport website today. Flights will go ahead on the 25th using a B747-200 happy

It will arrive into Birmingham on Saturdays at 19:00 and depart back to Athens and Jeddah at 22:00. On Mondays, the airline will arrive into Birmingham at 17:00, departing back to Athens and Jeddah at 22:00 the following day.

hey lee it wasnt cancelled it was delayed untill 7am next day tues then it was delayed again untill finally arriving in bhx on tuesday at 15.34

i have watched it for 2 days coming in at 5 seperate times and i was over the moon when it was coming in on 15 as i live with my sbs at the top of the ILS. nothing showed up on the SBS only the greek flag.HE then cuts the corner off so that i only saw it at a distance. WHAT A LET DOWN. its not on departures so when is it going back
