Only place that is normally seen is CDG so it must have been a divert from Paris

It was a divert from Brize Norton carrying royal air force troops and cargo.

It parked up for ther night on a very icy 56C!

Damn and blast. Wish I could have seen her come in. Love the A340 and have a fondness for this livery for some reason.

i want bhx to see more big aircraft like this this proves bhx an do so much more its a great shame v atlantic an british airways dont operate into bhx with 747's each day

we need bigger aircraft bhx can handle it these days prove it

Don't bigger planes like the 747 struggle to depart at MTOW. I'm sure when the A380 departed BHX in September it had fewer passengers that it could actually carry so it could lift off. It also had less fuel according to the forums on Flight Global. If BHX could handle these with ease now, they wouldn't need the runway extension.

I also heard they had the GSM contract as well.

What a completely superb event and quite a piccy even at slightly reduced quality, nice one Lee!

Having a tow from 56C to the Elmdon apron.

Looks even better in the daylight.

Nice one, Lee.

The GSM contracts are done through a brokerage as it's more efficient. The broker will have brought them in as a subcontractor, which probably suits TN as they have overcapacity at the moment.

Quote Quoting martinjw10, from a previous post

can it takeoff with that ice on it

It can take off with ice on the fuselage but ice build up on the wings and tail is a big no no. Not sure if you know how wings are designed but it's all to do with the shape and the air that flows over it, ice build up ruins this airflow and pretty much makes the whole wing useless as it's creating no lift at all.

The weight of snow and ice can cause problems too. Think about the weight of ice then imagine that covering a 747 for example, adds a hell of a lot of weight to an aircraft.

Having been parked up for a while it was covered in quite a lot of ice and snow. It took ages to de-ice it last night!

It finally took off around 10-30pm.

I honestly can't see it diverting here again! nice if it did tho'!

I dunno, Brize Norton does seem a bit prone to weather issues so it could well turn up at BHX.
