A Cessna (type unknown) has crashed at Birmingham. The airport is currently closed. No fatalities thankfully, but 2 injuries, with both Sky and BBC reporting one as being critical.
Latest reports suggest this flight was carrying a transplant organ. The organ has apparently been taken on to hospital, so fingers crossed it's still viable.
Heavy fog at the airport apparently, with flights diverted elsewhere following this incident.

Reports seem to suggest its G-VUEM Cessna Citation, a regular visitor to most UK airports.

I've heard things are looking bad for one crew member at least but fingers crossed for all involved.

Manchester and East Midlands are taking in the diversions!

Hope the organ transplant still works??

BBC has just reported it hit the ILS which is situated to the side of the runway.

Sad news, thoughts with all on board.

Closed until 0600 now apparently

How can you 'hit' the ILS?
Do you mean the PAPI?
Reports suggest it was on fire shortly before landing, engine fire maybe, or hit something?

The guy being interviewed said he hit the ILS;

"Mr Kehoe said the plane hit the instrument landing system glide path antennae (ILS) and had come to rest about 130m (426ft) to the right hand side of the southerly-facing runway."

according to the news sites it was delivered successfully to the hospital. That's as far as it goes, as I expect the hospital doesn't want the patient identified because of the news vultures who don't respect privacy when there's a lurid story to be had about fireballs and livers.

well, i knew it had got there, but I just hope it is still viable. I wouldn't like to think that this crash has caused a death in someway!

Thanks

Local news station last night described the crash has a hard landing so not sure if the aircraft hit anything.

BHX now open again, with flights delayed from this morning now operating although Monarch have cancelled some of their ops for today.
