Not any more. It used to have a BA hub there, which was eventually wound down and passed to another carrier which went bump (Duo).

BA haven't been at BHX for years. They also don't run a shuttle as it is too close to Heathrow.

sorry to waist your time

hi have you seen the picture of the aa 757 diverted to bhx lets hope that happens again.

BHX gets a fair few diversions (including BA) in winter when the London airports and Manchester or East Midlands suffer bad weather. Airlines don't like long diversions if at all possible and Birmingham is in a great central location for onward ground transport.

In my opinion at BHX the best place to spot is the multi storey carpark on the opposite side of the airfield to the terminal, nice photo opportunities and a great view

I've seen some videos from a field at the end of the runway (opposite end from the terminal I think) which seemed quite good but thats all I know.

sheldon country park also a good place to spot

If the park and ride facility at Marston Green station is full, park in one of the side roads just down from the petrol station. It's only a 5 minute walk back to the railway station, then cross the bridge and you're in the country park. Turn right and follow the path until you reach a wide open space with some benches. From here you can get great approach and take-off shots all day.

There's also another, equally good, spot at the opposite end of the runway located at the far (south-western) end of Long Stay Car Park 1. From memory, the parking charges are fairly reasonable, i.e. circa. £3.50 per hour. Again, you can get great approach and take-off shots, plus aircraft taxiing to/from the main Terminals are well within range if using a 150-200mm telephoto lens.

The biggest problem with the multi-storey car park (see #10 above) is that you need a large (i.e. 300mm plus) zoom to get any decent shots.

Yes qantas14, it might be that. It does ring a bell.
