BBC are reporting that a Sukhoi Superjet 100 has gone missing whilst on a demonstration flight in Indonesia. Fifty souls on board, so looking grim.

Confirmed as crashed on or near Mount Salak. Permission was granted to decend to 6,000 despite mountain being 7,200. Expected CFIT. 44 people on board and all are expected dead.

Very sad week for aviation:

Mr Arnie Schreder, 69, passed away in his sleep on saturday 05/05/12 after a battle with small cell lung cancer.
Mr Dennis Fitch, 69, passed away on 06/05/12 after a two year long battle with a brain tumour.
And now 44 Passengers are expected lost in the Sukhoi Superjet's first every incident.

They say things come in threes, hopefully it cant get any worse.

My condolences go to the friends and families of Mr Fitch and Mr Schreder and the family, friends and colleagues of all 44 missing in todays tradgedy.

Sad news in particular about Denny Fitch, but there's no connection to the SSJ 100 crash. People with aviation links die every week, and there's always sadness somewhere.

Very sad news about Denny Fitch. I remember giving a presentation on UA232 in GCSE English many years ago for my language speaking exam - got an A*, the flight crew of that aircraft were heroes!
