2 good routes, as I believe that Eastern Europe are routes MAN will never really have again.
Please can I just ask something regarding forums4airports LBAspotter. I left the site as my views seemed too pro-MAN and too contrevertial and people couldnt seem to handle the truth.

Many said how MAN is stealing routes that could be served from LBA, but, hypocrisy strikes me as with these 2 routes, one member has said how they can now take traffic off DSA. Why is it that MAN taking traffic from LBA is bad, but LBA taking traffic from DSA is good?

Anyway, isnt NOC-LBA now not operating? I know the original press release said it is, but, its still not bookable and the general consensus is that it is now pulled for the winter?

I wont post the reply on here as its a bit off topic and may upset/offend some people what I right. So I've decided to PM you instead world_rep. Ok?

PS

Don't know whats happening with the Knock service. In every press release last week by both Ryanair themselfs and LBA they both go onto state that the Knock route will be operating this coming winter but it's still not bookable on the ryanairs website.

There is another theory that the Knock route was 1 of the orginial 11 routes to be announced for the winter programme. But some changes were made a few weeks back to the scheduled and it looks like Faro is now on sale and its the 13th route for this winter from LBA not Knock...

I think they have had a sudden change of heart RE knock.

I have replied to your PM.

Ryanair announce Manchester Airport base / expansion
13.07.11

Ryanair has announced it will launch a base and add a number of new routes from Manchester Airport, nearly two years after it axed nine routes blaming airport charges. It will fly to 13 destinations by October, rising to 26 next summer. The airport said it had made some sacrifices to win back the airline.

The airline will initially base two aircraft at the airport from October operating 17 routes. Next summer Ryanair plans to grow to four aircraft and will fly from Manchester to: Alicante; Barcelona (Girona); Bezier; Biarritz; Bremen; Brussels, Dublin; Faro; Frankfurt; Ibiza; Katowice; Madrid; Malaga; Memmingen; Milan; Murcia; Oslo; Palma; Paris; Reus; Rome; Rzeszow; Tallinn; Tours; Tenerife and Valencia.

Ryanair fell out with the airport in August 2009 when a deal to run an additional 28 weekly flights if the airport charges were reduced could not be reached. At the time the airport said its charges were reasonable.

Michael O'Leary, chief executive of Ryanair, said a compromise had been agreed. He said: %u2018The market has changed and the tour operators have declined, which formed a large part of the airport's business. I think they have been keen to get us back and we have learned from our mistakes last time.%u2019 He said the new base will deliver up to two million passengers a year.

Penny Coates, chief operating officer of Manchester Airport, said: %u2018We have seen a decline in passenger numbers over the last two or three years particularly since the recession kicked in.%u2019 She said the airport had lost Ryanair passengers to Liverpool and to Leeds, adding: %u2018We want those passengers back to fly here from Manchester.%u2019

Yes there is, but i thought that since Leeds/Bradford was mentioned in the article that it would be of interest to other LBA fllowers!!!!!
Who's to say Ryanair wont pull out of Leeds due to this love hate relationship with MAN!!!!
just my opinion!

Do you actually really think that ryanair are going to pullout of LBA now just because they have set up a base at MAN?

Did Jet2 pullout of LBA when they set up at MAN, Or did PIA pullout of MAN when they set up at LBA? Simple answer is NO. It was only last month that ryanair announced 2 new routes out of LBA and said they were looking at adding a 3rd based aircraft at LBA next summer 2012. Things look positive at the moment.

Just civilised debate in the forums please guys - and can we please keep the LBA and MAN forums seperate also, helps stop things getting in a muddle.

Thanks.

Personally I think that any airport management that relies on a useless airline like Ryanair must be completely out of their mind, just look ay Girona, MAN a few years ago etc etc etc...

Sorry to mention both but LBA and MAN have to know what they are doing with them because one day RYR will push LS and EZY out of LBA and MAN and then abandon them, so LBA, MAN, LS and EZY have to club together and make a plan.

Sperwer agrees.

It would be extremely hard to push Jet2 out of LBA.

it's their group headquarters, principal maintenance base and also primary operational location. Low Fare Finder House also houses the staff allocated to Jet2holidays.

There is also advertising and brand loyalty to consider. Whilst it might cause some trimming of marginal routes or ones where their yield drops below cost, Jet2 have got a strong LBA presence which it would take Ryanair a hell of a lot of investment to dent.

LS have a strong card to play with baggage allowances too. That 22kg allowance is pretty generous for a lowcost. on FR that same 22kg of bag would cost you a fair old few bob.

Ryanair have just announced that are now going to operate the Malta route 2x weekly this coming winter 2011/12 season.

It looks as the Kaunas flights have been retimed and will now be operated by Kaunas base aircraft instead of the LBA aircarft.
