Hi guys,
Im going to heathrow next thursday, and was just wondering if anybody could tell me which the best two hours are to take photos of heavies arriving. Also, is there a possibility of seeing a DC-10 or MD-11?

Evening is the best time to see an MD-11, as eva air cargo send it in sometimes.
Doubt very much youll see a DC-10, as Biman were the last operator to LHR with it, but now even they have stopped.
Id say 9am-13:00 is best time to go, as you see the A380's or SQ/EK/QF, and quite a lot of heavy action.
You will have to put up with the continual onslaught of BA/EI/BD Airbii though, no matter what time of day you go. I suppose every silver lining has a cloud lol

If you want trijet action the best place to plan a trip to is either Stansted or up the road to East Midlands. STN is your best bet.

Not many Tri-jets at EMA anyomore. Its the DHL hub with A300/B767/B757's, UPS sends the B767 and Aerologic sends the B777F.
Luftie used to be the main Tri-holer at EMA, but of course they are at MAN now.
STN is best for the fedex MD11's

Cheers Guys. I'll stick with Heathrow I think. Just wondering, I can see that there is a field next to Cain's Lane. I wanted to know whether this was private land or is it accessible to the public? If it is, is it any good for 09R departures?

Very good as it happens if they are on 09R.
it is a little park like area, with some seats and public access. Good for gear-up shots.
