In addition to those terrible events, I can remember some incidents that thankfully didn't result in loss of life...... an Airtours MD-83 and a BA (maybe Manx/Regional etc) ATP having gear issues/collapse during the 90's, also think a CO DC-10 was evacuated at MAN at some point too.

Accidents or incidents? The COA DC-10 was an incident
There was the BMA Viscount which turned over but I cannot remember what year as it was before I lived here

Wasn't there a crash in the late 1950s (1957?) when an a/c hit a house in Shadow Moss Road?
A bit of a morbid topic, but an important part of MAN Ringway's history.

There was indeed, you have got me to dig my copy of First and Foremost out
The Viscount was G-ALWE and it crashed 14/03/1957 killing 20 plus 2 on ground and just out of
interest the passenger figures for that year were 485,000 total less than half a winter month now
and it wasn`t until 1962 that 1m was broken

20 March 1969, Vickers 815 Viscount, G-AVJA, BMA, 3 fatalities
An engine failure was simulated during the takeoff and the aircraft yawed sharply to starboard, leveled off and entered a steeper climb while turning and rolling to the right. The aircraft struck the ground inverted.

27 March 1951, Douglas C-47A Dakota, G-AJVZ, Air Transport Charter, 2 fatalities
Crashed when an engine failed in icing conditions just after takeoff.

19 August 1949, Douglas C-47A Dakota, G-AHCY, BEA, 24 fatalities
The aircraft crashed into the side of a cloud-covered hill at about 1400 feet, 15 miles short of the Manchester Ringway airport.

31 August 1946, Douglas C-47A Dakota, KG665, RAF, 0 fatalities
The Dakota stalled on takeoff and crashed.

Quote Quoting Manchesterspotter1, from a previous post

do you know why the CO DC-10 was evacuated?

Almost a very serious incident. A pressurized fuel line had ruptured, spraying fuel into the number 2 (tail) engine's gas stream. It was taxiing for departure and was spewing out fuel from the nacelle.

There are pictures of the incident around the net, methinks a.net might have some. The slides were out as it could easily have become a major fire.
