Looked fantastic flying over Manchester.it was my first 747sp iv seen. How many 747sp are left, bet theres not many left now.Bryan
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
There weren't that many built, but surprisingly quite a few of them have survived as

VIP planes (in the Gulf)
Engine testbeds
Flying observatories (NASA)
Iran Air
Syrian Airlines
Casino aircraft (Las Vegas and Macau)

The fleet can be a little bit fluid as some go in and out of storage
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
Get yourself to Jeddah if you want to see 747SP's, loads of them parked up on remote in various states of airworthyness

Just watching FR24. It's possible that DLH418 is heading MAN's way, which today is D-ABYA (B748). Grey skies but one for future days hopefully.

Just messing with my camera this afternoon when some blue sky came around and snapped this was at 20 thousand when I nailed it.

Quote | Reply | Top of Page
Great to see some blue sky for anything more than a nano-second, today. My 1st fliv spot, for what seems like an age, was a BA744.... as common as muck over my works, but it put a smile on my face today! Roll on the weekend when, hopefully, the weather will play ball and the bins will be out in force!
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
Great photo Dreamweaver.
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
I do wish the Belugas would stop waving their tails at us over Manchester as they are incredibly photogenic, even at altitude. A bit more paint on them might be an idea too as they are perfect billboards for the A350

Great pics Whitehatter really enjoyed them.

Not MAN related so sorry in advance but i cannot find the times the Beluga operates anywhere online.
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
I just did a quick Google and it came back with several references to Airbus keeping that in-house. There isn't a set timetable published anywhere, and operations are regarded as being fairly flexible anyway between different plants with differing sections.
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
Cheers for the info matey it does seem to come out regularly on friday afternoons passing stockport/manchester around the 4pm marker.
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
Belugas don't run to a set schedule, it's just 'as and when' they are required

Quote | Reply | Top of Page
What does this title mean dots & spots???
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
It means aircraft that are very high in the sky, so much so they look more like dots!!!

You can of course identify aircraft very high up on any clear day by the trails behind them or sometimes when they are lower just see them.

To track them when they are going over your exact location simply use

www.flightradar24.com
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
Have a look at Post #2 which corrects the title.
Quote | Reply | Top of Page

I saw a 777 that seemed to come out of Oxford one evening last week and head towards us at low altitude, thought it was coming to Man but it continued, quite low, all the way to Durham.

What's this flight all about?

Update. Answered by post 79 just as I asked.

VS19 (G-VWOW) which overflew MAN about 30 mins ago has suddenly made a very strange routing just in the atlantic west of Fort William.

Almost did a 180' turn, and now turned back on course. Its almost like he had an issue, was about to turn around but decided to go on?
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
Seems there are some rare northerly paths today.

Never seen the LGW-MCO and LGW-CUN flights overfly MAN, they usually head out over Cornwall.

Atlas Air 748 over MAN now... nice and low too - FL30 and tracking 317'
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
There were some interesting over flights today and I couldn't get a decent photo of any, just too much cloud at the wrong times.

Hope for better tomorrow.
Quote | Reply | Top of Page
...and it is better today. Crystal clear sky's and the big orange thing has shown it's face for a change.

Re FR24.

It seems that each device that you use FR24 on has slightly different (and better) features. Just put the pro version onto my wife's Ipad and you get the predicted flight path as well as the trail path. This is a great feature for predicting if fly over will come within camera range etc

With full US coverage this APP just gets better and better.
