Site Related Forum | New Screeners Wanted

As the site is becoming increasingly popular - we are now getting between 40 and 160 photos uploaded per day to the site - it has become neccessary to increase the numbers of screeners.

We are now looking for 2 new screeners. There are no set rules to how many photos must be screened per day / week as with some other sites, but obviously please only apply if you are able to spend a fair amount of time screening - there would be no point in us having 2 new screeners if they only screen 10 pictures per week for example.

If interested please either contact me via e-mail, PM or leave your name in a reply to this topic by Sunday 17th July. Myself and the other screeners will then make a decision as to who the new screeners will be.

I would be very interested in this position. I am usually on the computer for atleast a few hours everyday and think I could dedicate a couple of hours every day to screening.

First, let me start by saying that I am NOT putting myself forward - sighs of relief all round! With less than 100 images uploaded on P-M and an acceptance ratio of only 66%, I do not consider that I have either the skill or the expertise to sit in judgement of other people's photos.

In this latter respect, whilst I have no desire to teach my grandmother how to suck eggs, I do think that you (Dan), perhaps, need to be a little more explicit about the standards that need to be met in order to be seriously considered as a potential screener, i.e. it is NOT just a case of having enough spare time to be able to spend a couple of hours sitting in front of a computer each day. Bearing in mind some of the threads/posts that have appeared in the Photography Forum over the past few weeks, I think it is crucial that members wishing to upload images on P-M at least have the comfort of knowing that the person screening their photos is 'qualified' (whatever that means) to do so.

Having the expertise to do the screening position is something of a given. Anyone can put their names forward - but of course we will only add screeners who we consider able to carry out screening to the same standard as we do currently. Once we have all names, myself and the other screeners will pick the 2 people we consider to have the strongest case - but obviously they need to be able to screen a fair number of images regularly otherwise there would be no point in adding 2 extra screeners.

Standards are fairly obvious in that you must have a high acceptance rate on this site if you upload here - good number of photos on the other quality aviation sites will help as well.

Due to the amount of shots we're getting lately and the weekend soon to come (usually the busiest time) I think we need to bring the date forward. Closing date will now be this Sunday (10th July) by about midday. Hopefully we can get new screeners in place by early afternoon on Sunday all being well.

Is the volume seasonal, i.e. more shots in summer when everyone is out for the long days & good light?

depends how commited each member is. I prefer winter,low sun,clean air. but it's not fun in -30 and knee deep snow.
