On Wednesday 20th May , I was asked to take 2 glass display cabinets to Antibes, delivery Thursday afternoon, so by teatime I was off again, Before I got to Dover the delivery changed to Friday at 10 a.m. (better for me, as Thursday was a bank holiday in France & the autoroute was crash & burn Lyon to Aix !) So I avoided Le Bourget and went via Reims, didn't pop into to either airport at Reims as it was 6.30 or so, but this was over the autoroute, couldn't get it !

Decided to pop into Vatry, its a 'new' airport the French built on an old air base, pretty central in Europe I think they thought THE T.N.Ts & U.P.S's would use it but they didn't !

Went off and did my delivery and was about to start back (we were supposed to go to the in-laws for the weekend) When the phone went, can I stay down till Monday & collect the shoes I had taken down 2 weeks before ! YES.
With 2 and a half days to waste I went off to Fayence a glider field about 30 miles from Cannes ( I hadn't been there fo about 30 years ! 22 amongst which were D-MEMY, HB-EUO I-6469, the rest were French gliders or motor gliders.

10 minute visit next morning netted D-AKAT and CS-DMV, then off to Jimmy Choo, loaded up and away by 10.00 slipped across into Italy, with the intention of a quick visit to Como seaplane base, then realised I had about £250,000
of shoes on board so couldn't come back through Switzerland (its not E.E.C.) so diverted up to Aosta & through the Mont Blanc tunnel 44 Euros for 11 kms, robbery.
